What exactly IS sensationalism?
SENSATIONALISM: “subject matter; language, or style producing or designed to produce startling or thrilling impressions or to excite and please vulgar taste”
FACT: “something that actually exists; reality; truth”
Do you believe in Pink Slime? Are you willing to feed into the frenzy created by the media???
As an American, we are constantly being tapped on the shoulder (well really smacked in the face) with tons and tons of media information. What are we supposed to believe? Who has the truth and who is just trying to make money, gain power, or just be more popular? We need to learn how to separate the sensationalism from the fact of the information that is being presented.
In the past few weeks, we have heard lots of references to “pink slime.” I am here to let you know that the PS story is complete sensationalism. The term – PS…I can’t even say it - was created to stir controversy and Jim Avila is all the better for it. He has supporters that have carried him through the past two weeks due to the term that he has chosen to use – over and over and over again….. Factual, scientific information has been presented to the American public over and over again…through the media…through press conferences…through Twitter. How do I know this??? I work for that horrible, bad intentioned, lying, beef company (she said sarcastically) that it trying to kill off the general public….she screamed sarcastically again….
The people at Beef Products are relentlessly trying to get the power of the truth to the people. But to little success. The American public has chosen to feed into the frenzy of the “PS” term instead of taking the time to really read the scientific background of the product produced at Beef Products. They have not taken the time to research the company and what they stand for. Instead, they have chosen to believe the sensationalism from a media correspondent who doesn’t even use his real name….who never researched his story…and who never interviewed anyone to get the “other” side of the story.
But then again…how can the general public get the facts and information? Especially when blogs, Facebook pages, newspaper articles are so horribly biased? I have personally signed up for mommy blogs to share my information related to the Beef Products story and then to be kicked out because they did not like what I have to say. To be called a “troll” in Facebook pages because I am trying to expose my truth….to constantly have my replies removed from the comment feeds of newspapers and blogs because they do not want to hear what I have to say. How frustrating!!
It’s amazing how people will believe the sensationalism…even though they KNOW it’s sensationalism AND THEN when presented with the FACTS…they have a hard time believing it. SERIOUSLY??!! ARE YOU KIDDING ME??!!
I am a mother and a wife. My family as many other families across the nation have eaten this product many many times. It is healthy and it is safe. We are a mid-western business with honest values. We believe in the products we produce and the safety standards that we constantly strive for. We KNOW that our hamburger doesn’t come from a “grocery-store” but from the land and innovative technology. The face of this company has changed dramatically with nothing but sensationalism to blame. Sad…sad…sad. I wonder what company will be next.
